About

All Ways Writing is a nonprofit literary arts organization serving the creative writing community of Nyack, New York, the lower Hudson Valley, and beyond. We are a community of writers supporting writers. Our mission is to support local literary artists and inspire engagement with the written word through writing circles, readings, workshops, and other community events.

The collective takes its name from the Hudson River, which means “river that runs both ways,” indicating the range of support All Ways offers to writers, from generation to development to presentation of work. Organized by Nyack-local poet Lily Greenberg, our activities are low-cost and open to the public, and we welcome writers of all experience levels, ages, professions, racial backgrounds, and gender/sexual orientations.

The collective began in May 2023 as a series of writing circles and readings hosted at the Carson McCullers House of Nyack organized by Lily Greenberg and Anupama Amaran, building off of previously active writing organization River River Writers Circle. Our popular writing circles grew quickly, and our membership expanded as local writers found our activities aligned with their interests, which led us to grow beyond the McCullers House.

We have thus far partnered with the Carson McCullers House, Creative Arts Workshop, Nyack Library, Big Red Books, Friends of River Hook, StorySpace Arts, and Main Street Coworking—and we’re eager for further collaborations!
